Biography

Dr Andreas Triantafyllidis is senior research scientist at the Information Technologies Institute, Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (CERTH-ITI) and adjunct Lecturer at the Open University of Cyprus. He received the PhD in Medical Informatics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2013 and he was appointed as postdoctoral researcher in Mobile Health at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford from 2013-2015. His research interests include artificial intelligence, pervasive computing, medical informatics, mobile health, and computerised decision support. During the last 20 years, he has worked in EU and UK NHS-funded projects, leading in the design, development and evaluation of novel computerised systems toward achieving the independent living of patients and improving their health. He has been awarded with 2 national postdoctoral fellowships of “Excellence” from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) since 2015. He won 2 best paper awards in international conferences (International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence 2011, MobiHealth 2010), and he was the recipient of the award for the “excellent research activity during the MSc. Studies in the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki”, in 2009. He has published his research in top-ranked international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of medical engineering and digital health such as JMIR and IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics. His research has been cited by some of the best universities in the world such as the University of Oxford, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Michigan. He has been Guest Editor for the journals: International Journal of EnvironmentaI Research and Public Health, Digital, Information, Frontiers in Digital Health. He is a regular reviewer of the Journal of Medical Internet Research, International Journal of Medical Informatics, and other journals, and he has served as PC member or organising committee member for international conferences such as the MEDICON 2016 and the ICBHI 2017. He has been the chair of the workshop “Intelligent Digital Health Interventions towards Prevention, Self-management and Treatment of Pathologies (DIGHI 2019)”, organised within the 19th annual IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Bioengineering. He has been Assistant Editor for the MedInfo 2017 world congress in China, and MedInfo 2019 in Lyon, after a selection process. He has also been appointed as evaluator for research projects in EU, Greece (General Secretariat for Research and Technology – Hellas, EDK), Serbia (Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia), Latvia (State Education Development Agency), and Singapore.
