The main purpose of the Visual Analytics Lab<\/strong> is to conduct basic and applied research in topics related to <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Seamless data visibility and analysis and learning from historic data, real-time tracking and response audio-based predictive analytics<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Interactive visualization, voice-based interaction technologies, personalized content access, multimodal interfaces, dynamic dashboards, and remote information sharing adaptive intelligent systems<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Data-driven decision support and big Data analytics to inform better, faster, and more cross-functional decision making. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Alongside, VAlab<\/strong> has been actively researching technologies and applications to provide solutions for the Healthcare sector with emphasis to algorithms, tools and applications for digital health interventions, intelligent medical decision support, promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviors, ageing interventions, early detection of symptoms and interventions to prevent the disease from progressing, etc.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

    Also, during the last few years, the lab has been very active in the cybersecurity but also physical security domain. <\/span><\/p>\n

    So, the lab focuses on research to address the security and privacy challenges of distributed assisted living platforms and related health related IoT ecosystems, AI security, 5G security, automotive security, security verification and penetration testing, cryptographic solutions and security by design approaches. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Finally, our research activities include decentralized ledger architectures (blockchain) , privacy-preserving and personalized data analysis among trusted ecosystems, and data sovereignty technologies and distributed digital identities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    • <\/i> Deployment of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for the processing and mining of important information-related features as well as to identify patterns through deep neural networks, multimodal optimization, clustering, etc., in various domains such as healthcare, energy, cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), transport, telecommunications (5G\/6G), etc.\n<\/span><\/li>
    • <\/i> Self-training algorithms fully exploiting historical data with robust capabilities for detecting patterns in real-time, including technologies for predictive analytics.\n<\/span><\/li>
    • <\/i> Techniques for delivering distributed computational intelligence fully coupled with decentralized ledger architectures (blockchain) for delivering privacy-preserving and personalized data analysis among trusted ecosystems; Data sovereignty technologies and distributed digital identities.\n<\/span><\/li>
    • <\/i> Intuitive human machine interaction interfaces that fully employ interactive visualizations and enable cooperative schemes in real-time for improving decision making process; Adaptive intelligent systems, Personalised content access, knowledge-driven interaction design, Voice-based Interaction Technologies.\n<\/span><\/li>
    • <\/i> Personal Health Systems and Personalized Care Delivery: Personal Health Systems covers well-being, prevention of specific diseases or follow-up and self-management of existing chronic diseases enhance patient empowerment and self-care management; Innovative personalized health services to empower individuals in well-being and disease prevention, and chronic disease management; Tools that facilitate user feedback and person-centred care help people look after their own health, stimulate prevention, and enable feedback and interaction between users and healthcare providers.\n<\/span><\/li>
